Protect FMB is a group of individuals dedicated to the pursuit of responsible development of Estero Island. Protect FMB may use public outreach and legal action to encourage Responsible Development that will be within the intent and letter of the Town Codes, including the Town Charter, Land Development Code and Comprehensive Plan.
ProtectFMB was formed by residents and property owners of FMB who were frustrated with some recent decisions by our Town Council, particularly the 250’ tall set of Towers that Seagate has been approved to build adjacent to the low-lying Shell Mound neighborhood. Our actions are driven by our love of the community and our sense of fairness. Our neighborhoods, businesses, infrastructure and environment are all critical to the enjoyment of the Island and quality of life for residents and visitors. Our goal is to protect this unique place, keep our neighborhoods viable, promote responsible development, limit strains on our infrastructure, protect our environment, and convince the Town and Council to abide by their oath of office and follow the intent and letter of the Comprehensive Plan, Land Development Code and Town Charter. We hope to put the Public back in Public Service.
ProtectFMB is a tax-exempt entity and a registered 501(c)3.
The Board
The founding Board includes Tom Brady, Greg Scasny, Bill Veach and Laurie Webster. All are residents and most live in the “quiet center” of the island. We are open to expanding the Board.
